The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed until November 17 the High Court decision that granted bail to detained former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Salina Hayat Ivy in five cases related to the July 2024 mass uprising.

The chamber judge, Justice Md Rezaul Haque, granted the stay order after hearing a provisional petition filed by the state seeking permission to appeal against the High Court鈥檚 bail decision.

The chamber judge ordered that a full Appellate Division bench headed by Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam will hear the state鈥檚 petition on November 17.

Ivy鈥檚 lawyer Sara Hossain told 抖阴精品 that even if the stay is lifted, her client cannot be released as Narayanganj police on November 9 sought to show her arrested in five new cases related to the same uprising.

She said that the lower court set November 13 to rule on that request.

Additional attorney general Aneek R Haque represented the state and sought the stay on Ivy鈥檚 bail.

On November 9, the High Court granted bail to Ivy in five cases, three for murder and two for injuring protesters in Narayanganj.

Sara Hossain argued that no specific allegations were made against Ivy, who has been detained for six months without trial, while investigations have made little progress.

Ivy was arrested on May 9, 2025 at her Narayanganj home. She and several local Awami League leaders, including Shamim Osman and Gazi Golam Dastagir, have been accused in the cases filed with Siddhirganj and Fatullah police stations by the families of the July uprising victims.
