All flight operations at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport were temporarily suspended on Saturday afternoon after a fire broke out in the airport’s cargo section.

The airport’s executive director’s representative, Md Masudul Hasan Masud, confirmed the suspension in a message issued around 3:30pm.


According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence, the fire was reported at about 2:30pm.

‘Sixteen units were working to bring the blaze under control, while another 16 units were dispatched to the scene,’ said Talha Bin Zasim, station officer at the Fire Service media cell, around 3:40pm.

No immediate reports of casualties or damage were available.
