
At least five people were killed and 17 others injured in road accidents in Munshiganj, Madaripur and Gazipur districts on Saturday night and on Sunday.
In Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj, a youth was killed on the spot and at least five others were injured when a bus hit another parked bus on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Chaltipara area, reported 抖阴精品 correspondent in Munshiganj.
Eyewitnesses said that an Imad Paribahan bus hit Hanif Paribahan鈥檚 parked bus from behind where several people were injured and a man died.
The deceased was identified as Shariatullah, 20, son of Jamal Hossain of Pirojpur鈥檚 Harina area.
Srinagar fire service personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and sent them to different local hospitals, local people said.
Srinagar Fire Service Station officer Dewan Azad Hossain said that they handed over Shariatullah鈥檚 body to the Hasara Highway Police.
In Madaripur, a truck driver was killed and at least 10 others injured in a head-on collision between the truck and a bus on Dhaka-Barishal highway in Samaddar area under Sadar upazila early Sunday, reported Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
The police said that the deceased was the driver of the truck, but his identity could not be confirmed immediately.
His body was kept at the Madaripur Sadar Hospital morgue.
According to the police and locals, the Dhaka-bound bus collided head-on with the聽 truck coming from the opposite direction at about 12:00 midnight, leaving the truck driver dead on the spot and at least 10 bus passengers injured.
Being informed, a team from the fire service and highway police rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and took them to Madaripur Sadar Hospital.
Mostafapur Highway Police officer-in-charge Mizanur Rahman confirmed the incident.
In Gazipur, three people were killed and two others injured in separate motorcycle accidents on Saturday night, reported the United News of Bangladesh.
The police said that the identities of the deceased and the injured could not be confirmed immediately.
One of the accidents occurred on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Rajendrapur area under the Gazipur Metropolitan Sadar police in which a motorcycle crashed after the rider lost control on the vehicle, leaving two riders dead on the spot.
The police recovered the bodies and sent them to the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue.
The other accident occurred on Shibbari-Chandna Chowrasta road near Bangladesh Rice Research Institute in which a car collided head-on with a motorcycle carrying three people, leaving one dead on the spot and two others injured.
Gazipur Sadar police officer-in-charge Mehedi Hasan said that legal steps were under way in both the incidents.
