At least eight people were killed in road accidents in Sunamganj, Sylhet, Lakshmipur, Chattogram and Mymensingh districts from Friday night to Saturday.

Of them, two each were killed in Sunamganj, Chattogram and Mymensingh districts, and one each was killed in Sylhet and Lakshmipur districts.


抖阴精品 correspondent in Sylhet reported that three people, including two employees of Sunamganj deputy commissioner鈥檚 office, were killed in two road accidents on Sylhet-Sunamganj highway in Sunamganj and Sylhet on Saturday.

The deceased are Md Sabdar Ali, 37, Jewel Miah, 33, and Kutub Uddin, 45.

Administrative officer in the Sunamganj deputy commissioner鈥檚 office, Shahinur Rahman, told reporters that Sabdar and Jewel worked as announcers in the office, and they were going to Jagannathpur upazila in the district on a motorcycle to deliver an official letter in the morning.

At about 11:00am, they were killed when a private car collided head-on with the motorcycle on the Sylhet-Sunamganj highway in front of the food warehouse in the Shantiganj area.

In another accident, a pick-up van collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Sylhet-Sunamganj highway at Lamakazi Bazar under Bishwnath upazila in Sylhet, leaving an auto-rickshaw passenger Kutub critically injured.

Joykalas highway police station officer-in-charge said that the injured Kutub was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared him dead on arrival.

In Chattogram, Abdul Quader, 42, and Sher Mohammad, 60, were killed in separate road accidents in Jalua Dighirpar and Goirla areas under Chattogram鈥檚 Patiya upazila Saturday afternoon, reported Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.

Patiya police station sub-inspector Md Wasim said that pickup driver Quader died on the spot as a bus collided head-on with his pickup van in the Jalua Dighirpar area.

Farmer Sher Mohammad was killed after being struck by a human-hauler in the Tek area of Goirla while crossing the Chattogram-Cox鈥檚 Bazar highway on his way to a field, according to the police and witnesses.

In Mymensingh, two people were killed and 10 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses in front of Tasrif Cotton Mills at Bharadoba under Bhaluka upazila in Mymensingh at about 8:00am on Saturday, said Bhaluka police station OC Humayun Kabir.

In Lakshmipur, CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Md Hasan, 30, was killed and five others were injured when two CNG-run auto-rickshaws collided head-on in front of Hazirhat Upakul Government College under Kamalnagar upazila Friday night, BSS reported, quoting Kamalnagar police station OC Touhidul Islam.
