Dhaka Range deputy inspector general of police Md Rezaul Karim Mallick on Sunday said there was no extremism in Bangladesh.

‘The extremism was a mere drama in the country in the past 18 years. In the true sense of the term, there was no extremism in Bangladesh,’ he said.


He was speaking as chief guest in an anti-extremism civic rally at the conference room of the Shariatpur Police Lines.

Mallick said they have got a ‘New Bangladesh’ after the July Mass Uprising and they are working to pursue its spirit to build a better Bangladesh.

The police officer said they wanted to make Shariatpur free from drug, extremism and extortionists.

Mallick said he asked all the officers-in-charge and police officers of Shariatpur and Madaripur districts to maintain law and order in the districts.

‘We want cooperation from all to uphold the law and order,’ he said.

Police Super of Shariatpur Md Nazrul Islam presided over the meeting.

Additional police supers, OCs, political leaders and journalists were present at the meeting.
