
A Singapore-bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka Friday morning, minutes after taking off, as a bird hit the aircraft.
According to HSIA authorities, Boeing 737-800 aircraft, operating as flight BG 584, departed from Dhaka airport minutes after 8:30am and a bird hit the aircraft minutes after taking off.
Shortly after the departure, around 21 minutes into the flight and after reaching an altitude of over 2,500 feet, the captain reported an engine-related issue and decided to return to Dhaka.
The aircraft landed safely at the HSIA one minute before 9:00am with 154 passengers and seven crew members, said HSIA officials.
HSIA authorities said that they found anything like bird or untoward substance in the immediate examination in the runway.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines general manager for public relations Rawshan Kabir told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the passengers were sent to Singapore through another flight at about 1:45pm.
‘We have kept the affected flight for maintenance and check-up. The flight had to make an emergency landing due to hit by a bird,’ he added.
