The University Grants Commission on Sunday warned about a fake website in the name of Narayanganj Science and Technology University.
The commission also cautioned the students and their guardians about admissions to the university.
A press release, issued by the commission on the day, read that after getting approval from the commission in 2023, the administrative and academic activities in this new public university is yet to be started.
A fraud quarter, however, has created a fake website in the name of the university (https://ngstu.ac) and is continuing illegal activities which have come to the commission鈥檚 notice recently.
After analysing the website, it was found that on the website of the university a photo of the vice-chancellor of a university in Kolkata of India has been used as the new university鈥檚 vice-chancellor and the photo of the campus and infrastructure of the Gazipur Agricultural University has been used as the campus of the university.
The commission urged the students and their guardians to be careful and not to take any steps like financial transactions or admission-related decisions on false information.
Currently there are a total of 55 public universities in the country.
