Leaders of 12-Party Alliance on Thursday welcomed chief adviser Muhammad Yunus speech to the nation saying that the decision of holding referendum on the day of national election is proper decision.

The people of the country would also welcome the decision, the leaders said in a joint press statement on Thursday.


‘We hope that the issue of holding the referendum will be resolved and all political parties will accept it,’ the leaders also said.

Meanwhile, Amar Bangladesh Party also welcomed the speech and hoped that next general election would be held in free, fair and credible manner in the first half of February.  

Earlier in the day, the chief adviser, in his address to the nation, announced that the national election and the referendum would be held on the same day.

On the same day, President Md Shahabuddin issued an order for the implementation of the July National Charter, which outlined the questions to be included in the referendum.
