A flight carrying renowned Bangladeshi photographer and human rights activist Shahidul Alam, among other passengers, departed from Israel for Turkey on Friday afternoon, according to the CA press wing.
Bangladesh interim government chief adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, expressed his gratitude to Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his role in facilitating Shahidul Alam’s release and repatriation from Israel.
Turkish sources confirmed that the flight, TK 6921, is scheduled to arrive in Istanbul at approximately 2:30pm local time.
The Israeli military on Wednesday morning intercepted ‘Conscience’ along with eight other flotilla vessels carrying mostly professionals and activists, including acclaimed Bangladeshi photographer and rights activist Shahidul Alam, as they tried to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza.
All those on board the Conscience and other vessels in the aid convoy were also detained by the Israeli defence forces on their way to the Palestinian territory.
