Police recovered the body of a woman in a sack in Kadamtali’s Muradpur area in the capital on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Reksona Begum, 42, of Sutabaria village at Galachipa in Patuakhali.
The police primarily believed that the killers stuffed Reksona’s body in the sack and dumped it on the side of the road after killing her.
Kadamtali police station sub-inspector Kamrun Naher said that the body was found near a shop on Haji Lal Mia Sardar Road at about 9:00am.
‘After being informed through 999, we recovered the body that was in a sack. The victim’s face was partially disfigured, but there were no visible injury marks on the body,’ SI Kamrun Nahar said.
SI Kamrun Nahar said that the victim was identified by matching her fingerprints.
‘The police initially believe that the killers stuffed her body in the sack and dumped it. However, the actual cause of the death could be known after the autopsy,’ she said.
The body was kept at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, she said.
According to the police, Reksona worked as a domestic worker and used to live with a woman in a sublet room in Jurain area.
