The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a ‘Letter of Introduction’ requesting the High Commission of Canada in Dhaka to expedite the visa issuance process for a delegation of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami led by its amir Md Shafiqur Rahman.

Foreign ministry assistant secretary for consular affairs Md Moudud Hasan issued the letter on August 11, introducing amir-e- Jamaat Md Shafiqur Rahman, along with four of his delegation members, mentioning that the Jamaat amir would like to visit Canada for official purpose from October 25 to October 31 or from a nearer possible date.


The Jamaat amir will be accompanied by Syed Abdullah Mohammed Taher, deputy amir, Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, assistant secretary general, Mohammad Mahmodul Hasan, foreign-affairs adviser to the amir and Muhammad Nazrul Islam, personal secretary to the amir of the Jamaat, according to the letter addressed to the High Commission of Canada in Dhaka.

Asked about the issuance of the letter of introduction for the Jamaat leaders for expediting their visa processing for the Canada visit, foreign ministry official Moudud Hasan said that he had to check office files for any such confirmation.

A senior Jamaat leader, however, confirmed that preparations were under way for the party leaders’ visit to Canada next month.
