Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami naib-e-amir Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher on Friday said their party supported holding elections in February and was preparing for polls on February 15.
鈥楾he interim government had committed to maintaining neutrality, implementing reforms, ensuring visible justice and conducting elections,鈥� he said.
Mohammad Taher made these comments while speaking as the chief guest at Jamaat鈥檚 鈥楨lection responsibility rally鈥� in Kalirbazar Union of Chauddagram upazila in Cumilla.聽
However, he emphasised that certain issues had to be resolved to ensure a free and fair election.
鈥楢mong these, the July Charter must be given legal recognition and the February elections must be conducted based on it,鈥� he added.
Among others, Jamaat central majlish-e shura member Abdus Sattar, Cumilla South district Jamaat amir Mohammad Shahjahan, upazila Jamaat secretary Belal Hossain, assistant secretary Abdur Rahim, and Kalikapur Union Jamaat amir Abul Hashem were present.
