A chaos occurred at the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh’s essential goods sale at a reduced rate on mobile trucks in the capital’s Press Club area Tuesday morning.

Several consumers alleged that a number of consumers received goods several times, but many of them had to leave the place empty-handed.

They also alleged that the recipients, who received goods several times, reportedly sold the goods at the market at higher prices.

However, TCB media spokesperson Humayun Kabir denied any incident of chaos and said that they had not received any such complaints.

Md Rafi, the proprietor of Uttam Nagar Traders, the designated dealer for selling essentials in the Press Club area, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· on Tuesday that no incidents of chaos occurred on the day.

‘However, some incidents of indiscipline and overcrowding occur regularly during the sale, but our salespersons managed everything properly,’ he added.

TCB resumed selling essential commodities at various selling points in the capital and other parts of the country from Sunday, with operations continuing in Dhaka through 60 trucks from August 10 to September 13, excluding Fridays.

TCB stated that each truck would serve around 500 consumers daily, selling soybean oil, sugar, and lentils at affordable prices.

A consumer can buy two litres of soybean oil at Tk 230, one kilogram of sugar at Tk 80, and two kilograms of lentils at Tk 140 at a time.
