
A group of unidentified miscreants allegedly attacked National Citizen Party chief organiser for South Hasnat Abdullah’s car in the Chandana Chaurasta area in Gazipur city while returning to Dhaka city from Gazipur on Sunday evening.
NCP chief organiser for North Sarjis Alam in a Facebook post said that 10-12 assailants attacked Hasnat’s car in Gazipur.
‘The glass of the car was broken and one of his hands was bleeding,’ Sarjis said, adding that those who were in a nearby place protected Hasnat.
NCP senior joint chief organiser Abdul Hannan Masud also wrote on his verified Facebook account that Hasnat’s car was attacked at Chandana in Gazipur.
It could not be known immediately who attacked Hasnat and why he went to Gazipur, NCP leaders said.
NCP Gazipur district committee spokesperson Bashir Ahmed Apu said that Hasnat Abdullah’s car was attacked by miscreants on motorbikes.
‘Attackers hurled brickchips at the car and Hasnat Abdullah was injured,’ he said.
He also said that they were yet to know about the attackers and trying to collect CCTV footage of the incident.Â
Bason police officer-in-charge Shahin Alam said that Hasnat’s car was attacked by miscreants and they went to the spot immediately after hearing the news.
‘We have taken him to the Islamic University of Technology in the Boardbazar area,’ he added.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police commissioner Nazmul Karim Khan said that a team of the GMP led by additional commissioner went to Dhaka with Hasnat Abdullah.
Followers of Hasnat Abdullah, meanwhile, had started demonstrations in bypass, Boardbazar and Chandana Chaurasta areas demanding arrest of the attackers since 9:00pm.
In Dhaka city, NCP activists also brought out a procession from in front of the party office at Banglamotor protesting at the incident at around 10:00pm.
