Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, chairman and chief executive of PRAN-RFL Group, on Tuesday was received ‘Business Person of the Year’ accolade at the 23rd DHL-The Daily Star Bangladesh Business Awards, said a press release.

This award recognises his exceptional leadership, business innovation and unwavering commitment to social responsibility in Bangladesh, it said.


Finance adviser Salehuddin Ahmed handed over the award at the event held at Radisson Blu Hotel in the capital.

Commerce adviser Sk Bashir Uddin, DHL Worldwide Express Bangladesh Limited managing director Md Miarul Haque and The Daily Star editor and publisher Mahfuz Anam were present at the programme on behalf of the organisers. 

The DHL-The Daily Star Bangladesh Business Awards aim to honour visionary entrepreneurs for their impact on the economy and society. This year, awards were given to three persons and two institutions. 

Over the last four decades, Ahsan has been the driving force behind success of PRAN-RFL Group. Under his leadership, the group has evolved into one of the largest and most diversified conglomerates in the country, operating in sectors including processed food, housewares, footwear, electronics, light engineering, furniture, medical appliances, textiles, and more, the release said.

With his foresight, PRAN-RFL Group has built a robust sales and distribution network across Bangladesh, ensuring its products reach every corner of the country. By establishing nearly 40 factories nationwide, the group has also played a crucial role in strengthening the rural economy.

Today, PRAN-RFL employs more than 1,50,000 people, making it the largest private-sector employer in Bangladesh. Under his dynamic leadership, the group exports its products to 148 countries.
