At least 502 people were killed and 964 others were injured in 504 road accidents across Bangladesh in September, according to a report published by the Passenger Welfare Association of Bangladesh issued on Tuesday.

A large percentage of both the deaths and accidents involved motorcycle accidents during this time, the report notes.


Total 199 people (39.64 per cent of total deaths) were killed and 188 people (19.5 per cent of total injured) were injured in 191 (37.89 per cent) road accidents involving motorcycles.

Additionally, 46 people were killed and three others were injured in 50 railway accidents.

In 13 waterways accidents, 17 people were killed, 15 were injured, and three remained missing.

The association issued a press release with a summary of their monthly report, which was based on media reports.
