
Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited selected six outstanding architectural projects from 116 entries in the 11th Berger Award for Excellence in Architecture, held on Tuesday at a Dhaka hotel.
Architect Professor Shamsul Wares received a lifetime achievement award for his immense contribution to architecture and extraordinary artistic sensibility, said a press release.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Institute of Architects Bangladesh president professor Khandaker Shabbir Ahmed, Berger Paints Bangladesh managing director Rupali Chowdhury, award directorate members, jury panelists, and senior Berger officials.
This year’s jury comprised architects Abu Hydar Imamuddin, Bayejid Mahbub Khondker, Tamanna Sayeed, Gibson Rhie (South Korea), and filmmaker Kamar Ahmed Simon. Asia Karim served as award director, with Abu Musa Iftekhar and Nazifa Tabassum as deputies.
The winning architects included Rahat Ibna Hasan of Studio Gumtee Ghor for ‘A Home for Memories and Daydreams’, Fazla Rabbi of Perceive + ASP for ‘Rupgaon’, and Khondkar Nazmul Hassan and Khalid Ahmed Khan of Neoformation Architects for ‘Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited Unit-17 Multipurpose Industrial Building’.
