The theatre and performance studies department of Dhaka University staged the ninth show of its play titled Pakhider Bidhansabha at National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka on Friday.

Based on Iranian Sufi poet Farid al-Din Attar’s work titled Manteq al-Tayr, the play has been written by Shahman Moishan and directed by Ahmedul Kabir, a professor of the department.


The play depicts a journey of a flock of birds that want to meet their king, Simurg. After they reach the palace of the king, they come to see a mirror in the palace, and the play moves forward.

Master’s students of the department have played in different roles in the play.

Mohsina Akhter has designed the stage and costume while Dhiman Chandra Barman has designed the stage lighting and Sydur Rahman Lipon music for the production.
