
Rustom Ali of Natore Tennis Club won the men鈥檚 singles title of the Jago July 2025 Tennis Tournament after he beat Faruk Hossain of the National Tennis Complex by 6-1, 6-3 sets in the final at the National Tennis Complex in Ramna on Tuesday.
The Bangladesh Tennis Federation organised the five-day-long tournament, which offered a purse of Tk 140,000 as prize money, to commemorate the July mass uprising last year.
A total of 81 players, including 73 in the men鈥檚 singles and eight in the women鈥檚 singles event, competed in the tournament, sponsored by the M & J Group.
Bangladesh Tennis Federation president Abdul Hai Sarker distributed prizes among the winners as the chief guest during the closing ceremony.
The BTF general secretary, Ishtiaq Ahmed; vice-president, Md Salim; treasurer, MA Jinnah; joint secretary, Muammar Ahmad; tournament director, Shafiqul Islam Sarker; and M & J Group director, Munir Ahmed, were present, among others, on the occasion.
However, Jhalokathi Tennis Club鈥檚 Sumaiya Akter was leading by 6-2 against Khatun Suborna of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan in the women鈥檚 singles final before it was stopped due to rain.
The remaining part of the match is scheduled to be held at the same venue today.
