A locomotive of a commuter train caught fire in Mymensingh on Tuesday morning.
Following the incident, rail communications on the Mymensingh-Netrakona-Zaria route remained suspended.
No causalities were reported in the incident.
According to the Bangladesh Railway's Dhaka divisional train control room at about 10:30am on Tuesday a fire broke into the locomotive of Balaka commuter train near Shambhuganj rail station on while it was on its way to Zaria from Mymensingh.
The Dhaka divisional train controller, seeking anonymity, said that the incident took place due to mechanical glitch of the locomotive which was old.
Following the incident, the train stopped and rail communications on the route was suspended.
At about 12:00pm a relief train came to the spot to remove the train, officials said.
