
Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange, on Tuesday plunged mainly due to price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, shed 9.0 points or 0.2 per cent to settle at 5,411 points compared to 5,420 points in the previous trading session.
Meanwhile, investors participation remained robust, with market turnover further increasing by 6.3pc to reach Taka 10.4 billion.
On the sectoral front, Pharmaceutical (20.9pc) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Textile (13.2pc) and Bank (10.2pc) sectors.
Sectors mostly displayed mixed returns, out of which Textile (1.5pc), Services (1.4pc) and IT (1.1pc) showed the most gains on the bourse today, while Bank (-1.5pc), Tannery (-1.1pc) and Telecommunication (-1.0pc) exerted the most corrections.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 163 advanced, 160 declined and 74 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, also experienced a flat session today. The Selective Categories’ Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) inched up by 3.5 and 7.4 points, respectively.
