Bangladesh Nationalist Party leaders, including secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, met family members of the victims who died in the Bangladesh Air Force jet crash into Milestone School and College and conveyed condolences to them on behalf of the party.
Fakhrul went to the officers鈥� mess of the Bangladesh Air Force in Dhaka Cantonment around 4:00pm, where Aksa Hossain Nizhum, wife of Flight Lieutenant Towkir Islam who died in the Air Force jet crash, other family members, including his father and mother, were present.
He spoke with Towkir鈥檚 father Tahurul Islam, mother Saleha Khatun, wife Nizhum and other relatives.
During the meeting, Fakhrul conveyed heartfelt condolences from BNP chair Khaleda Zia and acting chair Tarique Rahman and expressed deep sympathy to the grieving family.
He also assured the family of the party鈥檚 full support and solidarity during this difficult time.
BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy visited the family of Nusrat Jahan Anika, a third-grade student who was killed in the jet crash that left at least 33 people dead.
He visited Nusrat鈥檚 home in the capital鈥檚 Diabari area and expressed sympathy to the grieving family on behalf of party鈥檚 chairperson and acting chairman.
At that time, Gayeshwar said that the interim government is becoming involved in controversies due to a lack of coordination and experience.
He said, 鈥楾he delay in elections will lead to further crises and raise various questions about the government鈥檚 legitimacy.鈥�
Expressing anger over the failure of the Air Force to take responsibility even four days after the jet crash, Gayeshwar demanded a proper investigation.
鈥楾he culprits must be identified and brought to justice so that such incidents do not occur in the future,鈥� he added.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi met the family of Nazia and Nafir, two siblings from Milestone School who died in the crash.
BNP joint secretary general Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie visited the grave of schoolteacher Masuka Begum Nipu in Sohagpur village of Ashuganj, Brahmanbaria. She died while trying to save students during the tragic crash.
Annie laid floral wreaths at her grave and offered fateha there and prayed for the salvation of her departed soul.
He also met Masuka鈥檚 family members to convey condolences on behalf of the BNP leadership.
Meanwhile, a BNP delegation led by Afroza Abbas, president of Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal, visited the grave of teacher Meherin Chowdhury in Bugulagari village of Nilphamari鈥檚 Jaldhaka upazila.
Meherin died while rescuing students trapped inside a classroom. Afroza offered floral tributes and expressed sympathy to the family on behalf of the party chair and acting chair.
BNP Standing Committee members Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, AZM Zahid Hossain, and vice-chair Shamsuzzaman Dudu, also visited the homes of several crash victims and conveyed condolences on behalf of the party and its top leadership.
