Socialist Party of Bangladesh (Marxist) chief coordinator Masud Rana said on Saturday that rejecting the Women Affairs Reform Commission goes against the spirit of the July uprising.

Delivering the introductory speech at a dialogue between the SPB (Marxist) and the National Consensus Commission, held at the LD Hall of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in Dhaka, Masud said that while the conflicting issues in the commission’s proposals can be debated, outright rejection of the entire commission undermines the citizens’ struggle against discrimination.

Masud led a 12-member SPB (Marxist) delegation in the NCC dialogue, which aimed to build consensus on state reforms.

The dialogue began at 3:00pm.
