Interim government adviser Mahfuj Alam issued a stern warning on Monday, urging people to refrain from mob violence and from taking the law into their own hands.

In a post on his verified Facebook page, Mahfuj Alam stated, ‘If you are in favour of the uprising, stop mobbing; if you continue, you will be treated as devils.’

He added, ‘After today’s incident, no further requests will be made. Your role is not to take the law into your own hands,’ referring to recent instances of mob violence.

Mahfuj Alam said, ‘From now on, we will take a firm stance against so-called movements and mob drills,’ and warned, ‘If there is any attempt to prove the state ineffective or failing, not a single concession will be given.’

He said, ‘People of Towheed, after a decade and a half, you’ve got the opportunity to practise your religion and culture in peace. Your foolishness or arrogance is now threatening to destroy that peace.’

Alam urged everyone to refrain from oppression, warning that it would ultimately lead to their own suffering.

‘Do not oppress, nor become victims of oppression,’ he said, calling it his final request.
