Banned student organisation Bangladesh Chhatra League observed its founding anniversary in several districts on a limited scale on Saturday.

Although Awami League’s student front BCL, did not organise any programme centrally marking its 77th founding anniversary, it brought out flash processions, placed wreaths and cut cakes in districts including Dhaka, Chattogram, Gopalganj, Feni, Cox’s Bazar,


Barguna, Noakhali, Gazipur, Kishoreganj, Sirajganj, Gazipur and Mymensingh.

In Tangail, about 15-20 BCL leaders and activists brought out a flash procession in the Nirala crossing area early Saturday.

Leaders and activists of the BCL marked the organisation’s 77th founding anniversary in Chattogram.

Separate programmes were organised in Patiya upazila and Bakalia area in the city to celebrate the anniversary, ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· staff correspondent in Chattogram reported.

Meanwhile, a group of Dhaka University students on Saturday afternoon held a programme on the campus to express their hatred for the banned BCL, ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· DU correspondent reported.
