Leaders of Democratic Left Alliance on Saturday at a rally in Dhaka called on the interim government headed by Professor Muhammad Yunus to take immediate steps to control abnormal price hikes of essential commodities.

They also called on the interim government to introduce mass rationing system across the country so that people could buy essential commodities at cheaper prices.


LDA, a combine of six political parties, organised the rally in front of the National Press Club where its coordinator and also coordinator of Socialist Party Bangladesh (Marxist) Masud Rana chaired.

Masud Rana said at the rally that the interim government failed to break syndicates responsible for abnormal price hikes of the essential commodities.

As a result, common people are suffering much to run their families with their limited incomes, Masud Rana added.

Communist Party of Bangladesh general secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince called on the interim government to introduce a countrywide mass rationing system so that people could buy essential commodities at cheaper prices.

Revolutionary Communist League general secretary Abdus Satter called on the interim government to announce a roadmap for holding the next general election without delay.

Democratic Revolutionary Party general secretary Mushrefa Mishu called on the interim government to take steps to improve law and order of the country.

SPB central leader Khalequzzaman Lipon, executive president of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal Abdul Ali and Revolutionary Communist League central leader Shamim Imam also spoke at the rally.

The rally was followed by a protest procession that paraded different city roads.
