Visual artist Kazi Salahuddin Ahmed portrays old town memories in his solo miniature paintings exhibition titled City of Memories, which began on Tuesday at Alliance Fran莽aise de Dhaka, Gulshan.

The exhibition, which displayed 140 miniature artworks inspired by the delicate storytelling of Mughal miniature paintings, was inaugurated by the French ambassador, Jean-Marc S茅r茅-Charlet.


The opening ceremony of the 12-day exhibition also featured honorary consul for Chile in Bangladesh Asif A Chowdhury as special guest.聽

Jean-Marc S茅r茅-Charlet stated that France believed in tradition and modernity while Bangladeshi artist鈥檚 artworks also portrayed that dualism tremendously.聽

Kazi Salahuddin Ahmed stated that he grew up in Dhaka and, over the course of his forty years career, focused on the history and memories of the old town without ever growing weary of the subject.

All of his mixed media artworks on paper explore themes of belonging and the resilience of Old Dhaka.

The exhibition will end on November 29.
