Renowned Bangladeshi artist-cartoonist Shishir Bhattacharjee depicts catastrophe of nature, human relation and hypocrisy of politicians in his ongoing solo drawing exhibition at Kalakendra at Lalmatia in the capital.

The three-week exhibition was inaugurated on September 5.


The exhibition displayed 93 drawings by pen, acrylic, ink, markers on papers and canvas created between 1990 and 2025.

At the gallery, his artworks are placed and displayed without mentioning the title but interrelated to the issues, artwork size and date of creation.聽

A series comprising six drawings created in 1990 addressed environmental and socio-political issues with representational objects and figures.

Another series comprising 14 drawings by pen on brown paper created in 2025 reflect the contemporary political disaster and possibility after the student-led mass uprising.

Four drawings created in 2012 by marker on brown paper addressed human relationships, hypocrisy of politicians and disaster of nature.

Another drawing set comprising four artworks created between 2012 and 2015 also shows the political reality and hypocrisy of politicians against the democratic values, deforestation and man-made disasters.

A series of artworks created between 2021 and 2023 by pen on paper addressed nature, cosmic and contemporary issues by using organic and utopian forms with bold lines.

The exhibition also displayed two artworks in acrylic on canvas portraying harmony of nature and human presence as part of nature.

Shishir Bhattacharjee appears in his solo after a long time. His previous solo exhibition titled Daag-Tamasha was held at Dhaka Art Centre in 2013.

The exhibition will end on September 27.
