A week-long solo pattachitra exhibition of artist Nazir Hossain, observing the Global Tiger Day, is under way at the Zainul Gallery of faculty of fine art on the Dhaka University campus.

The 61st solo exhibition of the artist is featuring 42 artworks created with acrylic on paper, canvas and wooden board.


The artworks displayed in the exhibition depict folk tales and myths of Bengal, rustic life, Maimansingha Gitika, Gazi Kalu Champabati and Manasar Pala, centring on the Royal Bengal Tiger, the national animal of Bangladesh.

Besides, a lyrical visual story titled Pater Gaan: Bagher Deshe Baishakh has been displayed in the exhibition.

Nazir Hossain said that the exhibition aimed to create awareness among the people for the protection of nature, culture and ecosystem of world.

Mentioning a recent survey that that the number of Bengal Tiger has increased, he said that the Royal Bengal Tiger was not only the national animal but also a symbol of the world’s biggest mangrove forest Sundarbans.

He urged, ‘We have to save our culture and nature for the next generation.’

Commenced on July 26, the exhibition will end today.
