A daylong art camp titled ‘Patar Chhabi’ was organised in Barishal on Saturday, which featured artworks of 50 students of Paschim Rajiher Government Primary School at Agailjhara upazila in the district.
Home Studio, a Dhaka-based art organisation, held the event.
Artist and curator Kuntal Barai coordinated the camp which also comprised a tree planting campaign to create awareness about protecting the environment among the villagers.
Artists, including Faijul Islam, Bappy Linkon Roy, Kaniz Munni, Tanusha Rahman and Pritam Pitu, conducted the art camp while the children portrayed nature, awareness of tree plantation and relation between nature and humans through their paintings.
‘The camp aimed to raise awareness among villagers as well as the children about climate change, deforestation and its impact,’ Kuntal said, adding that they planted 230 local trees at the village and the cost of the event came from a crowd fund created by the artist community.
They want to spread the campaign in different districts with art camps, exhibition and community events, he said.
