A solo painting exhibition by artist Harun ar Rashid Tutul with a special participation by his son Meghdut Mihir began on Monday at Gulshan in the capital.

The exhibition was hosted by Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The exhibition titled Fragile Coexistence featured approximately 50 paintings of the two artists.

Tutul’s paintings explore endangered species, climate change, and environmental degradation, speaking about urgent global challenges, while Meghdut’s paintings display his surroundings and life of Dhaka.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the embassy’s Gallery Residence at Gulshan 2 and the ambassador of Kingdom of the Netherlands to Bangladesh Andre Carstens along with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy fine arts department director artist-curator Mustafa Zaman and Art Bangla Foundation chairman artist professor Mohammad Eunus attend the event as special guests.

‘Our environment faces unprecedented challenges, collective effort and creative expression can drive positive change,’ Andre Carstens said, adding that the exhibition addresses climate resilience.

Mohammad Eunus said that artist Tutul works with almost all media with the same enthusiasm.

‘Meghdut’s participation in Fragile Coexistence adds a fresh, dynamic perspective, enriching the exhibition with a dialogue between experience and youthful vision,’ said Mohammad Eunus.

Mustafa Zaman said that as a contemporary artist Tutul’s works comprised repetitive lines and vanishing points creating beauty of abstract paintings, but the theme of his artworks is too much relevant.

‘Artworks of Meghdut also show his mother’s contribution while nurturing her child who was diagnosed with autism at the age of four and a half,’ said Mustafa Zaman.

The exhibition will end on April 23.
