The embassy of Sweden in Bangladesh launched a six-day photography exhibition titled Bangladeshi and Swedish Baba at the Muktamancha on the bank of the River Padma in Rajshahi on Sunday.

In collaboration with the UNDP, UNFPA and UN Women, the exhibition is showcasing 23 photographs of Bangladeshi fathers actively engaged in parenting and caregiving, said a press release.

This exhibition is celebrating the evolving roles of fathers as caregivers and highlights the transformative impact of active fatherhood in advancing gender equality and building more equitable societies.

As the exhibition continues to travel across Bangladesh, it aims to challenge traditional norms, inspire action, and drive meaningful change toward a future where caregiving is a shared responsibility and gender equality is a lived reality.

Following the success of previous exhibitions in Dhaka, Khulna, and Chattogram, which collectively attracted over 8,500 visitors, the Rajshahi edition aims to deepen the dialogue on modern fatherhood and shared caregiving roles, sparking meaningful discussions.

A concept inspired by the award-winning ‘Swedish Dads’ series by renowned Swedish photographer Johan Bävman, the initiative encourages audiences to rethink traditional gender roles and embrace gender equality as a shared responsibility.

Visitors can explore the photographs and their stories until February 7, gaining an understanding of the roles fathers play in shaping a more inclusive and just society.

By encouraging fathers to embrace caregiving, this exhibition highlights the broader social benefits of gender-equit02120able parenting.

The exhibition has been made possible through a collaborative effort with local authorities, including the Rajshahi City Corporation and the divisional commissioner.

A total of 23 fathers were selected from 100 submissions through a month-long competition held online. The jury board included HE Nicolas Weeks, Swedish ambassador to Bangladesh; Stefan Liller, UNDP resident representative; Masaki Watabe, representative UNFPA; Gitanjali Singh, UN women representative; Sabina Yasmin, senior photographer, Prothom Alo; and Saiful Huq.
