
Different cultural organisations celebrated the 126th anniversary of the birth of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in the country through various programmes on Sunday.
The cultural affairs ministry on Sunday organised a three-day programme at the district Shilpakala Academy in Cumilla.
Cultural affairs adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki inaugurated the event while writer-critic Salimullah Khan delivered the commemorative speech at the event presided over by cultural affairs secretary Md Mafidur Rahman.
Artistes of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Rebel Band, Ghaashphoring Choir and Nazrul artiste Ferdous Ara performed at the event.
Bangla Academy organised an event comprising seminar, award ceremony and a cultural performance titled ‘Dekhbo Ebar Jagattake’ at its Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium in the capital.
Nazrul researcher professor Anwarul Haque and Nazrul artiste Shobnom Mushtari received the Nazrul Award 2025 at the event.
Chhayanaut also organised a two-day Nazrul Utsab 1432 at its auditorium comprising songs, dances and recitation from Nazrul literary works.
Dhaka University, Bangladesh Udichi Shipligoshthi, Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, Bangladesh Sanskritikkarmi Sangha, among others, also organised cultural events to mark the day.
