
Different cultural organisations observed May Day by organising programmes at different venues in the capital Dhaka on Thursday.
Terracotta Creatives, Aranyak Natyadal, Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi, BotTala, Samageet, Bangladesh Gana Sangeet Samannay Parishad and others paid tribute to working class people by organising the programmes.
A daylong art exhibition titled the 15th Rongottor Art Exhibition’ was organised by Terracotta Creatives at Rabindra Sarobar at Dhanmondi in the capital Dhaka on Thursday marking International Workers Day.
The exhibition, curated by Mrittika Kamal, featured 90 artworks, including paintings, photographs, performances and digital art depicting the struggles of the working class people and their everyday life, by 64 artists.
The event featured artists, including Abir Abdullah, Hasan Saifuddin Chandan, K M Asad, AFM Moniruzzaman Shipu, Morshed Mishu and Ummea Habiba.
‘The fifteenth edition of Rongottor Art Exhibition continues to reflect Terracotta Creatives’s commitment to making art accessible to people from all walks of life,’ Mrittika Kamal said.
Theatre troupe Aranyak organised an event on the premises of Central Shaheed Minar at 10:00am that included discussion, songs, recitation and two street plays.
As part of the event, Aranyak also staged its renowned theatre production titled Rarang at Experimental Theatre Hall of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the evening. Â
Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Gosthi organised a cultural programme at Satyen Sen Chattar opposite to the National Press Club.Â
