Artist Sanjib Das has depicted working class people’s struggles and resilience in his third solo exhibition at Gallery Chitrak.
The three-week exhibition titled The Storyteller has displayed more than 50 artworks, most of which were created between 2020 and 2024.Â
Through the figurative presentation of rickshaws, horses, and humans in paintings he focuses on the working and middle class people’s labour for their bread and butter. Â
Beside some floral paintings, Sanjib has also portrayed the life of national minorities and musicians with their instruments.Â
‘I have tried to observe the lives of the lower and middle class people of the city and civic life very closely. There are many untold stories hidden in their daily lives,’ Sanjib Das said, adding that he has tried to tell all those stories in his paintings with his own feelings as a storyteller.
Inaugurated by eminent artist Rafiqun Nabi on February 15, the exhibition ended on Thursday.
