Bangladesh runner Jahir Rayhan faced a disappointing exit from the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2025, as he finished last in heat three of the men鈥檚 400-meter event in Nanjing, China on Friday.

A total of 29 aspirants, split into five heats took part in the 400 meters, three withdrew as Jahir placed 25th.聽


Jahir clocked 49.84 seconds to cross the distance while Hungarian runner Attila Molnar (46.35 seconds) and Fuga Sato (46.60 seconds) of Japan placed first and second respectively to advance directly to the semi-finals.

Earlier, Jahir secured a silver medal at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championship 2024 in Iran, recording a time of 48.10 seconds.

He also claimed victory in the 400 meters at the 48th National Athletics Championship in February, marking his 10th title by clocking 47.72 seconds.

The top two finishers from each heat, along with the two fastest third-place runners, advanced to the semi-finals. The final is set to take place today.
