Interim government sports advisor Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain said on Friday that a new policy is going to form soon, aiming to ensure accountability of the country’s sports governing bodies and the overall development of sports.
As part of the initiative, no one will be able to serve more than two terms in any of the federations or associations governed by the National Sports Council.
‘A person may not hold the same post in any sporting organisation more than twice. If necessary, the individual may serve in another capacity within the federation,’ Asif stated at a meeting with sports organisers, coaches, athletes, and referees at the NSC auditorium.
Furthermore, all sports organisations will be required to submit annual audit and progress reports to the ministry of the NSC in time.
The advisor emphasised the need to rid the country’s sporting arena of partisan politics by reforming the existing arrangements among the sport’s regulating bodies.
‘Necessary steps will be taken to keep the sports arena free from the influence of politics…We have planned to increase budget allocation for the development of sports,’ said the advisor.
