UTHSO Bangladesh has recently hosted a musical event titled UTHSO Sandhya 2025, featuring two of the country’s popular singers, Bappa Mazumder and Somnur Monir Konal, in a concert dedicated to raising funds for supporting underprivileged children.

The event was held at the Shaheed Abu Sayeed International Convention Centre at Shahbagh in Dhaka, said a press release.

Bappa Mazumder, accompanied by his band Dalchhut, opened with his popular track ‘Brishti Pore’, followed by audience favourites such as Din Bari Jay.

Konal began her set with the blockbuster title track ‘Priyatama’ from the film Priyatama. Together, the two artistes performed around 15 songs, including Bappa’s ‘Pori,’ ‘Baji’ and ‘Tomakei Bole Debo’, and Konal’s ‘Rajkumar’, ‘Basanta Chale Jay’, and ‘Ghum Jarano’.

Konal also performed Joan Baez’s timeless classic ‘Song of Bangladesh’, dedicated to the country’s Liberation War.

Their duet performances – ‘Ektu Jadi Takao Tumi’ and ‘Chokher Bhitar Swapna’ – were among the most cherished moments of the night.

This event marked the first time the two artistes shared a stage in a collaborative performance, and both artists expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to a cause focused on the welfare of disadvantaged children.

UTSHO Bangladesh, which works to ensure a safe future for marginalised children, stated that all proceeds from the event will support over 500 children and adolescents across UTSHO’s two schools and eight ‘Aastha’ day-care centres located in Dhaka’s slums.

Speaking at the event, UTSHO’s founder and executive director, Mahbuba Akter Mahmood Leena, shared, ‘32 years ago, UTSHO began with only three children. Our mission has always been to build a Bangladesh where every child grows up in a joyful, safe, and healthy environment – where no child has to grow up on the streets.’

The event was powered by One Bangladesh. Co-sponsors included AMC Knit Composite, Central Women’s University, Gulshan Inner Wheel Club, Mac Lubricant, Polar Ice Cream, Shakti Foundation, and Urmi Group.

Partner organisations included ABC Real Estate, Access Freight, Anwar Landmark, Bangladesh Finance, Multimodal Services, City Bank, DBH Housing Finance, DBL Group, Dhaka Bank, Eastern Bank, Finlay Properties, IFAD Group, IPDC Finance, Ispahani Group, New Jarwa House, IDLC Finance, Mastercard, Mutual Trust Bank, NovoAir, Padma Apparels, Paper Rhyme, Prime Bank, Reckitt, Richmond, Rupali Group, Technotel Maritime, Atlantic Resort, Three Angle Marine, and many other well-wishers of UTSHO.
