
Today is the fifth anniversary of the death of National Film Award-winning music director Alauddin Ali.
Born on December 24, 1952 at Tongibari in Munshiganj to musician Ustad Jadob Ali and Johra Khatun, Alauddin Ali developed an interest in music from an early age.
He debuted as a music director with the film ‘Sandhikshan’ at the age of 23 in 1975.
He directed music for more than 300 films and 2,000 songs. He also composed tunes for songs aired on radio and television.
Notable songs of Alauddin Ali include ‘Pratham Bangladesh Amar Shesh Bangladesh’, ‘Je Chhilo Drishtir Simanay’, ‘O Amar Bangla Maa’, ‘Premer Agune’, ‘Ei Duniya Ekhan Toh Aar’, ‘Kiba Jadu Jano’, ‘Bhalobasa Joto Boro’, ‘Achhen Amar Moktar’, ‘Sukhe Thako O Amar Nandini’, ‘Ekbar Jadi Keu Bhalobasto’, ‘Duhkho Bhalobese Premer Khela’, ‘E Jiban Tomake Dilam’ and ‘Chokher Najar Emni Koira’.
He bagged National Film Award as best music director for five times. He also won National Film Award in best music composer category for ‘Lal Dariya’ and best lyrics category for ‘Premik’.
Alauddin Ali passed away on August 9, 2020.
