Midland Bank PLC on Thursday provided financial assistance of Tk 15 lakh to family of late Abul Kalam, who died after a bearing pad fell on him from metro rail structure at Farmgate in the capital on October 26.
Of the total amount, the bank provided Tk 5 lakh from its Islami Banking Fund under its corporate social responsibilities activity, as part of the bank鈥檚 commitment towards social wellbeing. The remaining sum, Tk 10 lakh, was contributed by
Midland Bank Family Members, said a press release.
Midland Bank managing director and chief executive officer Md Ahsan-uz Zaman handed over the assistance to Irin Akter Priya, wife of late Abul Kalam, at a simple ceremony held at bank鈥檚 head office in the capital on the day.
From the fund, Midland Bank Family arranged two MDB Saalam Family Support custodial account, each with Tk 7,50,000 favouring the minor son and daughter of Abul Kalam, who are Abdullah Abrar and Parisa Mariam Sura respectively, to carry on their day to day expenses.
Among others, Midland Bank chief financial officer Didarul Islam and Islami banking division head Syed Sakibuzzaman were present on the occasion.
