Prime Bank PLC, in collaboration with Independent University, Bangladesh and its human resource management department and Independent HR Society recently organised a high-impact seminar titled ‘Financial Inclusion: Engaging & Inspiring Youth in Banking’ at the IUB campus.

The programme was held under banner of PrimeAcademia — Prime Bank’s flagship campus initiative, said a press release.


The seminar was attended by more than two hundred students from diverse academic disciplines. It pro vided a platform to promote financial literacy, responsible money management and career opportunities in the banking and financial services sector.

The initiative also sought to equip young participants with the knowledge and skills essential for employability, entrepreneurship and leadership in a rapidly evolving economy.

The keynote address was delivered by M Nazeem A Choudhury, deputy managing director and consumer and SME banking division head of Prime Bank.

In his remarks, he emphasised the importance of going beyond academic excellence and developing practical competencies such as digital literacy, communication, language proficiency and presentation skills.

Additional insights were shared by Prime Bank senior executive vice president and liability head Shaila Abedin and financial inclusion and school banking head MM Mahbub Hasan, who highlighted the critical role of youth empowerment and financial literacy in fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

Representing IUB, Daniel W Lund, pro vice-chancellor, along with assistant professor and human resource management department head Ikramul Hasan, lecturers Effat Binte Kabir, Nabila Kamal Promy and Abdullah Al Ahad were present.

A highlight of the event was introduction of ‘Prime Youth Account’ — a student-focused banking solution available in both conventional and Islamic modes, the release said.

Designed to encourage early financial responsibility, the account enables students to begin their financial journey with ease.

On-the-spot account opening facilities were also provided, giving participants the opportunity to directly experience Prime Bank’s modern and customer-friendly banking services.
