
Online food and grocery delivery platform foodpanda has rewarded three of its delivery partners with fully sponsored Umrah packages, including air tickets, accommodation in Mecca and Medina, and all essential travel arrangements for the journey, said a press release.
The initiative was part of a special Ramadan and Eid campaign held in Dhaka and Chattogram, where riders with the highest number of deliveries between March 26 and April were recognised.
Three riders won Umrah packages, while five others received smartphones for their performances.
foodpanda co-founders and managing directors Ambareen Reza and Zubair Siddiky handed over the prizes at a ceremony held recently at foodpanda headquarters in the capital.
Shohel Rana, a rider from Bailey road area and one of the winners of the Umrah package expressed his gratitude, saying, ‘I had never imagined I would ever get the chance to go for Umrah. Given our humble living, it always seemed like a far-fetched dream. But thanks to foodpanda’s thoughtful Ramadan campaign prize, this is a dream I never thought I’d live. My family and I are truly beyond grateful.’
Md. Billal Jordar, a rider from Gulshan area who received a smartphone this year reflected on his past experience, ‘Last year, I was honoured to win the Umrah package and successfully performed the Umrah. foodpanda management provided excellent support with accommodations and all travel arrangements. This year, I’m happy that other delivery partners are receiving this honour.’
Mukitur Khan, logistics head of foodpanda Bangladesh, expressed the company’s deep appreciation for all its rider partners, emphasizing their vital role in the company’s success.
He appreciated the role and contribution of rider partners like Shohel and Billal, in the foodpanda business, highlighting their dedication and hard work, the release said.
