Market Intelligence Platform, designed as a one-stop digital hub for exporters, was launched at a programme held at a hotel in Gulshan in Dhaka on Thursday, says a press release.

Mahbubur Rahman, secretary commerce ministry inaugurated the platform as chief guest.

It has been developed under the Export Competitiveness for Jobs, EC4J, project of commerce ministry collaboration with the World Bank.

The platform enables businesses to easily access buyer information, connect with international partners, and explore new export markets.

The event was attended by prominent stakeholders, including Hosna Ferdous Sumi, senior private sector specialist at the World Bank and Task Team Leader of the EC4J Project; Shamim Ahmed, president of the Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association; and Mohammed Mushtaque Ahmed Tanvir, president of the Bangladesh Bicycle and Parts Manufacturers and Exporters Association.

The event began with a keynote address by Bijon Islam, chief consultant for the market intelligence platform and chief executive officer of LightCastle Partners, who spoke on the platform’s significance and objectives.

Abdur Rahim Khan, additional secretary of commerce ministry and project director of EC4J, also presented an overview of the EC4J initiative and the MIP platform.

He described the platform as a ‘reliable one-stop service’ that will support exporters in making informed and practical decisions. He added, ‘To compete globally, we must empower locally. The Ministry of Commerce is committed to equipping every exporter with the tools and intelligence they need to thrive’.

Mahbubur Rahman said, ‘With the launch of the Market Intelligence Platform, we are putting actionable data into the hands of our exporters especially SMEs so they can compete with confidence in global markets’.

Hosna Ferdous Sumi said, ‘Our vision is to create an enabling environment where exporters no longer guess but grow based on data, insights, and market linkages’.

Shamim Ahmed said, ‘Bangladesh’s export potential extends far beyond garments. It is encouraging to see the ministry working to empower the promising sectors like leather, plastics, and light engineering.’

Didarul Alam, strategic technology lead of the Market Intelligence Platform and CEO of Shooting Star, along with leaders from various business organisations, also spoke at the event.

A panel discussion titled ‘Accelerating Bangladesh’s Export Diversification’ concluded the event.

It featured over 120 participants, including representatives from the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, the World Bank, leading trade bodies and local corporations.

The discussion focused on public-private collaboration, digital innovation, and policy frameworks to broaden the country's export base.

The platform has been developed through a consortium comprising the international consulting firm LightCastle Partners, Shooting Star Limited and US-based technology company NKSoft Corporation.

It is noted that launched in 2017 with support from the World Bank, the EC4J project is an 8-year initiative aimed at export diversification and employment generation.

It focuses on enhancing competitiveness in four key sectors: leather and leather goods, footwear, plastics, and light engineering.
