Bangladesh’s jewellers on Tuesday decreased the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 3,133 a bhari (11.664 grams), setting the new price of the precious metal at Tk 1,16,290 a bhari with immediate effect, after increasing the price by Tk 630 a bhari on Sunday.

Including the decision on Tuesday, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association has changed the price of gold for the sixth time this month, increasing the price four times on April 6, April 8, April 18 and April 21, while reducing the price on April 20 and April 23.


The gold price hit records in the first three times.

According to a BAJUS press release issued on Tuesday, the standing committee on pricing and price monitoring of BAJUS made the decision.

The price of 21-carat gold decreased to Tk 1,10,995 a bhari from Tk 1,14,004 a bhari and that of 18-carat gold decreased to Tk 95,144 a bhari from Tk 97,710 a bhari, the press release said.
