Today is the second anniversary of death of poet Asad Chowdhury.
Born on February 11, 1943, Asad Chowdhury made a significant contribution to literature. He became one of the major poets in contemporary Bangla literature for his buoyant attitude towards life and cheerful style of writing.
Asad Chowdhury started his career as a lecturer of Bangla language and literature at Brahmanbaria College in 1973.
He also served as director at the Bangla Academy. He was also a life member of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh.
His literary works include 鈥楾abak Deya Pan鈥�, 鈥楤itto Nai Besat Nai鈥�, 鈥楤atash Jeman Parichita鈥�, 鈥楤rishtir Sangsare Ami Keu Noi鈥�, 鈥楽atya Pherari鈥�, 鈥楰ichu Phool Ami Nibhiye Diyechhi鈥�, 鈥楶rem O Prakritr Kabita鈥�, 鈥楨kka Dokka鈥�, 鈥楯oler Madhye Lekhajokha鈥�, 鈥楯e Pare Paruk鈥�, 鈥楳adhya Math Theke鈥�, 鈥楳egher Julum Pakhir Julum鈥�, 鈥楴adio Bibastra Hoy鈥�, 鈥楶remer Kabita鈥� and 鈥楪arba Amar Anek Kichhur鈥�.
For his contribution to Bangla literature, the poet was awarded with the Ekushey Padak and Bangla Academy Literary Award.
Asad Chowdhury passed away on October 5, 2023 in Canada.
