Five victims of the Milestone tragedy continue to receive treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, while 31 others have been discharged, hospital authorities said.
‘Five patients are still undergoing treatment at the burn institute, with 31 being discharged from the facility,’ NIBPS resident surgeon Shawon bin Rahman confirmed.
He added that 20 burn victims have succumbed to their injuries at the institute so far.
The tragedy occurred on July 21, when a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crashed into a two-storey building of Milestone School and College shortly after take-off around 1:00pm.
Thirty-six people, mostly primary-level students, were killed and scores of others were injured in the tragic incident.
