The Russian House in Dhaka celebrated the 165th anniversary of birth of Anton Chekhov, one of Russia鈥檚 greatest literary figures, with a captivating literary event in the capital on Saturday.
The programme, organised in cooperation with the Soviet Alumni Association of Bangladesh, began with a welcome speech by Pavel A Dvoychenkov, director of the Russian House in Dhaka, said a press release.
In his speech, he reflected on Chekhov鈥檚 life and literary legacy, expressing sincere gratitude to all those who participated in the event.
The programme featured a series of presentations and performances by students of the Russian language courses at the Russian House.
Among the highlights was a special recital of Chekhov鈥檚 poignant piece titled Last Farewell by an alumnus of the Soviet University.
The event culminated in a dramatic reading of Chekhov鈥檚 short story titled Fat and Thin, performed by Russian language students under the guidance of the Russian language instructor Olga Roy.
