Bangladesh men鈥檚 under-21 hockey team鈥檚 coach Siegfried Gottlieb Aikman on Saturday announced a 20-member squad for the forthcoming 2025 FIH Hockey Men鈥檚 Junior World Cup to be held in Tamil Nadu, India, from November 28 to December 10.

The 66-year-old Aikman dropped six players from the preliminary squad, who left home on September 23 for Malaysia for a week-long training camp, including four preparation matches.聽


Aikman earlier picked the 26 players in mid-September from the initial 40 players, who had over a month-long camp at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium.

聽Nuruzzaman Noyon, Taiyeb Ali, Sushanto Chakma, Shahidul Islam, Saddam Hossain and Shimul Islam were dropped from the squad.聽

In their maiden appearance in the World Cup, Bangladesh will play 1997 champions Australia, France, and South Korea in their Group F matches of the 24-team competition.

After the group stage, the eight group winners and the two best second-placed teams will advance to the quarter-finals.

The other four second-placed teams and the four best third-ranked teams will play in playoffs for 9th to 16th places, while the remaining teams will compete for positions from 17th to 24th.
