The ministry of youth and sports rewarded the Bangladesh national women鈥檚 football team with Tk 50 lakh for their maiden qualification in the AFC Women鈥檚 Asian Cup final-stage, which is scheduled to be held in Australia in March 2026.
Bangladesh confirmed their maiden berth in AFC Women鈥檚 Asian Cup as group C champions of the Qualifiers by beating mighty Myanmar 2-1, Turkmenistan 7-0 and Bahrain 7-0 in Myanmar in July this year.
Soon after the achievement, youth and sports adviser to the interim government Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain announced the reward and the team members received their cheques three months after the announcement on Wednesday.
The National Sports Council executive director Kazi Nazrul Islam handed over the cheques to the team members in a function at the NSC conference room.聽 Each of the team members received Tk 1.61 lakh.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Under-18 women鈥檚 hockey team also received rewards of Tk 21 lakh for winning bronze in their first appearance of the AHF Women鈥檚 Under-18 Asia Cup in China in July 2025. Each member of the hockey team got Tk 95,000.
