Five-time BPL champions Bashundhara Kings strengthened their squad by signing UK-based footballer Cuba Mitchell and also appointing Brazilian Sergio Farias as the head coach ahead of the forthcoming AFC Challenge League.
The 19-year-old midfielder Mitchell, who last played for Sunderland Under-21, had been without a club since July 1, 2025. Earlier this year, he obtained a Bangladesh passport and has been registered as a local player by the Kings.
Mitchell, born in Birmingham to a Bangladeshi mother and Jamaican father, is likely to join the club in the next three to four days.
The 58-year-old Farias replaced Romanian Valeriu Tita. Farias previously coached Brazil鈥檚 Under-17 and 20 teams and guided the U-17s to the South American Championship title in 2001. He also coached South Korean club Pohang Steelers, which won the AFC Champions League in 2009.
Brazilian forward Dorielton, who played for Kings in 2023, also rejoined the club from Indian outfit Odisha FC, while his compatriot Raphael Augusto and Nigerian duo defender Emanuel Tony and forward Emmanuel Sunday are the other foreign recruits.
Raphael represented Abahani Limited last season, while Tony and Sunday played for champions Mohammedan Sporting Club.
Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society defenders Taj Uddin and Tanvir Hossain, Abahani midfielders Mohammad Ridoy and Shahrier Emon, and BFF Academy midfielder Samuel Raksam are the local recruits.
Kings will face Syrian side Al Karama SC in the preliminary stage on August 12 at the Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha.
